Thanks for a great opening day!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Lancaster Farmers Market on Saturday. What a great market day!
Be sure to find us at the next market!

Nothing but sunshine and happy folks checking out the vendors and their local produce and plants.

Just $0.50 per fan - what a great deal!

We completely sold out of daylilies. Our best seller was the always popular "orphan" daylilies for ust $0.50 per fan! This grab bag special is such fun - you never know what you might find in the basket of unmarked, unknown, and totally terrific daylilies.

Potted dahlias for $5 each.

The dahlia plants were a big hit too! Some lucky customers will have beautiful plants with tons of blooms all summer long.

See you next time!

Daylilies and Dahlias at the Lancaster Farmers Market

Today, Saturday, from 8 until noon we'll be at the Lancaster Farmers Market with buckets of freshly dug daylilies!
Who needs a border? Quick! This market special won't last!

We'll also put some tomato seedlings in the truck and a nice selection of potted up and sprouting dahlias plants as well.

Beautiful dahlia plants ready to make their appearance!

Stunning dark purple dahlia bloom

A tiny little tuber will produce this beautiful bloom. Easy to care for and lovely to look at - don't you want some dahlias?

Our special is the classic, Stella de Oro daylily, nice plump clumps for just $1 each. Do you need a border? Then this will help you get growing - and they are just about to bloom.

See you at the market!

Totally tubular.... dahlia tubers that is!

We've been working hard to get all of our dahlias tubers awakened for spring!  Did you know that dahlia tubers sleep all winter in a nice warm bed of peat moss....and sometimes sprout before they are even planted?
Sproutin' is happening here!

We take up and divide our tubers for the winter - they are too sensitive to hash weather and soggy ground to be left out in the cold. We store them in buckets of peat moss in our basement... then get them growing in containers.

Some of the dahlias can be divided again if we see sprouts. They are a little tough after the long winter but a sharp knife makes quick work of the task.

Happy growing!

Setting out sprouts

We've been busy transplanting our little sunflower sprouts to the garden. We start our seeds in trays in the greenhouse - then set out the sprouts in the garden. Each tiny sprout is given plenty of room to reach for the sky.

These little fellas will soon be the star of the show!

Our professional, floral quality sunflowers give consistently beautiful results. They are uniform in size, have strong stems, and don't get too tall. Perfect for a fresh bouquet.

Remember last summer when the garden was bursting with blooms?

Soon our growing garden will be filled with these blooms.

Happy growing!

We have a winner! So glad....

Our first gladiola of the season broke ground! This little guy will turn into a beautiful addition for a bouquet later this season.

Grow, little buddy, grow!

The blooming season is almost here - aren't you glad?

Happy Spring!
